Web 2.0 as an Autopoietic System - Implications for Innovative Web-Interfaces
نویسنده
چکیده
The Web 2.0 can be regarded as an evolutionary process of medial differentiation. Infinite online communities are emerging and disappearing. It seems that a race has started in searching for innovative web-interfaces. Already many helpful technological principles and features are executed by web experts. Although they give helpful orientation for designing innovative and interactive web-interfaces, they lack dealing with self-organising systems such as online communities. Therefore, I promote an extended notion of the web-interface. Such perspective includes reconsidering the constitutive characteristic of online communities: the autopoiesis. This is an essential concept of social system theory, which is new in context of designing innovative web-interfaces. Consequently, the goal of this paper is not a technological solution, but which will give a new perspective with implications for technology. One essential consequence is that a designer or programmer cannot be more than a perturbator and experimentator – intending to learn more about the social system. Therefore, I propose to generate knowledge for an innovative and human centred Web 2.0 interface with focus on qualitative and participatory research. This approach allows generating most appropriate design interventions with the users of an online community themselves. Investigating Dynamic Writing Assessment in a Web 2.0 Asynchronous Collaborative Computer-Mediated Context
This study aims at investigating the effect of dynamic assessment (DA) on L2 writing achievement if applied via blogging as a Web 2.0 tool, as well as examining which pattern of interaction is more conducive to learning in such an environment. The results of the study indicate that using weblogs to provide mediation contributes to the enhancement of the overall writing performance, vocabulary a...

Background and Aim: Web 2.0 technology has various usages in libraries all over the world. According to studies, however, it seems that this technology is rarely used in Iranian academic libraries. Therefore, the present study aims to determine the level of familiarity with and use of Web 2.0 tools among librarians working at Iran, Tehran, and Shahid Beheshti Universities of Medical Sciences. ...
متن کاملBehavioral Considerations in Developing Web Information Systems: User-centered Design Agenda
The current paper explores designing a web information retrieval system regarding the searching behavior of users in real and everyday life. Designing an information system that is closely linked to human behavior is equally important for providers and the end users. From an Information Science point of view, four approaches in designing information retrieval systems were identified as system-...
متن کاملBringing Web 2.0 to web lectures
At many universities, web lectures have become an integral part of the e-learning portfolio over the last few years. While many aspects of the technology involved, like automatic recording techniques or innovative interfaces for replay, have evolved at a rapid pace, web lecturing has remained independent of other important developments such as Web 2.0. Web 2.0 is an emerging trend that among ot...
متن کاملThe Web 2.0 Demystified – Six Theses on a Misinterpreted Concept
The Web 2.0 was said to bring real innovation, new concepts, and new applications to the Web. The role of a user is upgraded by changing his passive role of information consumer to the role of somebody producing and consuming information at the same time ("prosumer"). In our paper, we discuss the major aspects of the concept Web 2.0 and draw conclusions from our findings by means of theses. It ...
